- Fixed the links to the Hotline

- Development of the B5 plug has not advanced
since the release of v2.1 back in September 1998, as university is
taking up a lot of time. As well, our own interest in continuing
development has waned, perhaps as a result of reevaluating our
priorities in life (i.e. I have to pay through the nose for
university, and I can't get anything from the B5 plug-in, and
Brian is finishing up high school and preparing for university).
We're not quite sure what we want to do with the plug-in just yet,
but we do know that we will not be releasing it entirely for
others to develop. We may let others do future missions (subject
to our approval, since some mission ideas would twist the original
B5 storyline too much even for our liking) and new and improved
graphics, but nothing will be decided until probably late April,
when my exams are all over.
- For everyone who's emailed me in the last few
months and haven't received replies yet, I apologize; for various
reasons I have been unable to reply to all of them (mostly the
inability to provide an answer within ten minutes, or because we
weren't sure what we were going to do with the plug-in from hereon
out). Hopefully News Item 1 here provides most of the answers
you're seeking. Emails I haven't replied to yet from mid-November
98 to now I have in the outbox, waiting for a message body (email
database was wiped out due to massive problems caused by an
increasingly screwed up L2 cache card; don't worry, it's all fixed
now); at the time of this writing there are about 6 that need
replying to, and I'll try to get them all answered within the next
week.
- Thank you for your time and
patience.

- 98-09-28:
- As of this date, all download sites listed
here have the "Files" folder in the documentation visible.
Users who download the plug-in from one of the three available
locations after September 28 do not have to download the
replacement
for the Documentation.
- 98-09-25:
- New Tripod
mirror site added.
- Status of download sites:
- hotline.luser.net
(Hotline): very reliable; try this option first. Note
that this site may not be up 24/7, but is online nearly
every time I check.
- Tripod:
Reliable; file downloaded and unstuffed fine with Internet
Explorer (Navigator not tested)
- Geocities:
Unreliable; primary bin and hqx files removed, smaller files
remain.
- Last
Resort: Reliable; file downloaded
and unstuffed fine with Internet Explorer (Navigator not
tested)

- A minor issue has come to
our attention with regard to the presentation of documentation
files. To clarify: there are three items in the documentation
folder: the two intro files for Navigator and Internet Explorer,
and the primary documentation files, which are housed in an
invisible folder called "Files". A few people on the EVO
discussion board have expressed concern with regards to the
installation of an invisible folder being installed on their drive
without their knowledge. We understand this concern, and have
therefore immediately made available a replacement
for the Documentation folder. Nothing has been added or changed
except the invisble flag for the "Files" folder has been toggled
off. Our apologies for any concern and confusion this may have
caused. Note: anyone who downloads from the Tripod mirror site
will have the Files folder visible; you do not need to download
the updated docs.
- 98-09-13:
- Some people have encountered difficulties
downloading from the Geocities site, typically a connection
loss around the 30 percent complete mark. Two alternative
download sites have been added; one is the Hotline site
"Luser.Net" at
hotline.luser.net
(199.104.120.23
for now), which also archives other B5-related items. The main
advantage of Hotline over other file transfer methods is that
downloads (and uploads) can be resumed if terminated, but you
must have the Hotline Client
to access this site. The other site is from the Carleton
University server; please download from this site only as a
last resort, after trying the Hotline option first. The
Carleton servers are not a set up to handle heavy
traffic.
